Felicia Diesel MPG at speed

Featured Replies

Hey there folks,

More of a curiosity thing here but does anyone know roughly what MPG the felicia diesel would get at higher speeds? And by higher speed I mean 70-80-90 (on the autobahne of course).

Thanks

35>40 mpg. they are a bit low geared for fast work.

i took one to italy and back loaded with camping gear and juat about averaged 39 over 2500 miles

My 1.9d felicia estate returns 50-53 mpg on long motorway runs cruising at 70mph. Reducing cruising speed to 60-65 mph will give up to 57mpg. These figures (measured brim to brim) have been consistently acheived over many years.

Andy.

Wish I could get that!

Best I can do is 49mpg mixed dual carriageway at 55mph and some town driving.

That's with new air/fuel/oil filters too and I am not heavy footed.

Any suggestions? :'(

No special techniques other than avoiding harsh acceleration unless absolutely neccesary. Whilst I generally have a fairly relaxed driving style I don't exactly dawdle. One of the reasons I've kept the car so long (10 years) is it's consistent 50+mpg average. Now if only I could get a new fabia estate with the same engine - no unecessary complications!

Andy

That sounds about right.

Not a great deal more than I could manage in the 1.3 felly although I find the main difference with petrol and diesel (especially old diesels) is the ability to thrash it a bit and still get decent MPG.

We managed 42mpg in the pug when we last went to Germany. Three adults and full boot at 80+mph the whole way so suspect it would be possible in the felly too.

I drive like a cretin :wonder:  and get around 35 on the B-roads and near enough bang on 40 on the autobahn at 75mph

However due to the unique way my mind works I calculate my consumption (and therefore wages when I am pretending to be a taxi) based around around 10miles/litre... which is about 43mpg? maybe? :smirk:

EDIT - I should point out that when I am pretending to be a taxi I stop driving like an oaf and start driving like an oap - it's not me that will be late, after all.... :p
