octavia a5 model 1.9tdi 110hp turbo failure

Featured Replies

Hi,

My 54 plate A5 model Octavia 1.9 TDI turbo has failed, I am looking for some advice so that I can go to a garage armed with some knowledge. I was driving at 70mph then I had power loss and a big puff of white smoke from the exhaust. when I stopped the car it was still ticking over at the normal rpm. the turbo had been whining a little louder than normal for a couple of days before this incident. on checking the engine compartment I can not see anything suspect. All coolant is in place only the oil is missing. I can only assume this is what was extracted while on the motorway?? any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hello and welcome to the forum :hi:

Hi,

If you have an MK1 Octavia, I have a 110 BHP Turbo for sale which just was removed from my engine, 118k miles no issues whatsoever. PM me if you are interested :)

Hi, I have just had a new turbo (not recon) fitted to my octavia, A stunning 1300gbp fitted by A&T MOTORS in mullion (cornwall) I understand it may have cost a lot more than this due to the work they undertook in clearing the remaining 2lts of oil and various shrapnel from my exhaust and the air inlet. I do have the old turbo to which I am not sure is in any salvageable condition (what state would it have to be in to deem it unserviceable/un-reconditionable?? I have been out in it today and it still smokes a wee bit due to the remaining oil in the exhaust but runs better than ever. I have many questions to ask to build up my knowledge of this car so if any one would welcome any of my questions please let me know.

best regards

Jason
