Octy climate control, design fault or a couple of faulty cars?

Featured Replies

Hi

There have been a couple of reports of problems with the new octy's dual climate control, who widespread is the problem. I'm about to purchase a Elegance Estate and one of the main reasons for chosing it over the ambiente trim was the climate control, the one in my last octy being brill. I'm worried to here problems with the present system, given that its common to most new vag cars has anyone heard of problems with it in VW's and seats?

I'd quite like to know about this one too - of the people that have had problems with it (mostly seems to be that you have to cook your upper body to have warm feet), have Skoda managed to fix it?

Can't say I've noticed it myself, but will give it a go on the way home. Having said that I have the adjustable air vents in the middle and side closed and have it blowing on feet and screen, but only on 23c max at present. Personally I like to be cool in my car

If your car has this fault get it back to the dealer.

There's a simple cure for it (it's a faulty temp sensor IIRC) - should only effect launch stock and very early production vehicles.

Also there is a rework bulletin out that should be carried out on PDi before the car is delivered to the customer, not safety related just a mix up at the factory.

This fault has been bugging me since 3 September when I reported it. The Skoda "troubleshooter" tried to convince me that my car was OK.

Have just faxed a copy to my dealer.

There are two sensors, one on the top of the dash and one in the control panel. Can you remember which one it is?

The flap motors and sensors can get stuck which sometimes means that the c/c switches on and off at random.

There are many many motors/sensors involved although if you do have a fault, the usual 'secret codes behind the c/c panel' will diagnose it for you.

Main problem is that any problems require a dash-out job which invariably leads to rattles and squeaks.

I have c/c on my Polo Sport, although I wouldnt have minded the regular heater as it is one less thing to worry about.

However, the c/c on my Toledo was ultra reliable - seemed to do a better job than the Polo unit (probably cos the Toledo c/c is 'borrowed' from the Audi A4 though).
