No, but some *can* let more dust through than the paper OEM versions.

a verygood price as I paid about £40 for mine from jetex.

I used it for an hour and then removed it.

I posted a full review on the Jetex a couple of months ago but unfortunately I cannot locate it via search.

Bottom line is imo it is wafer thin filter material, lets in too much dirt and you don't get any noticeable gains (I did a before and after RR) although obviously it will breath better. It may sound a bit louder up the top end and sometimes this can be interpreted as a "performance gain"

If you do buy a performance air filter, cotton or foam etc then i'd suggest changing you engine oil every 3 months (i do this anyway) to compensate for the additional dirt/dust that will migrate into the oil. if you drive around in nice clean areas then perhaps every 6 months.

These are my own opinions but based on rolling road before and after, swapping between brand new oem filters and cotton or foam ones and even testing them in a vacuum box (i managed to get hold of a truflow one) with dirt ingress. I did my best to comply to sizes in the ISO 5011
