Bizarre happening with dash lights and maxidot

Over the past couple of months I've noticed that on several occasions when I've started up the car (Octavia vRS CR manual estate) the maxidot computer has prematurely re-set (not even reached 19.99 hrs!) and the clock has gone to 00.00. It's a bit frustrating but not the end of the world so I've put up with it. However, this morning while travelling at 50mph the dash instrument lights all lit up for a moment and then went off. At the same time the maxidot re-set and the clock went to 00.00 I didn't notice any loss of power (i.e. car didn't stall) and power steering was fine. It just seems that the lights flashed on. The fact that all the lights came on is a bit worrying to me and I wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem? I'll give the local dealer a call shortly and see what they say.
