Privacy shades for all that glass - anyone got them?

Featured Replies

Anyone recommend these UV shades from vanstyle aka palmautomotive?

Am thinking of ordering a set.

linky?

The OEM ones are pretty good - as well as acting as sun-shades - but they are expensive - nearly £200 for the three removeable sets that cover the rear windows, boot windows and boot. ******************

I've got a set on my Fabia. Highly recommended, good fit and very good price. I paid ~£80

I have the full OEM set on the vRoomster Scout.

In addition to the sunset glass means you can barely see inside the cabin and they're great for J5 jnr as you can open the window for ventilation and still keep out most of the sun B)

I have these on my R3. Expensive but effective and easily removable. Produced in Germany by ClimAir and from their Sonniboy range. Also available from Windesa in Germany but more expensive. ClimAir supply to Skoda for their accessory line.

They are very easy to fit with the supplied clips and hand tool, and the instructions are simple. The screen material used by ClimAir is a fine mesh (like patio door bug screen mesh) and is a grid rather than a sheet with punched holes like most aftermarket window shades.

ClimAir have UK distribution so available either from ClimAir or from Skoda dealer. Shop around! I bought mine from Skoda as that proved cheaper at the time with about 15% trade discount. Good quality and worthwhile accessory!

Thanks to those who replied. The positive feedback prompted me to order some and my shades arrived today.

Bought from http://www.motormec.co.uk/ Good product and fitted just in time for the Aussie summer heat.

Can I ask which set? http://www.motormec.co.uk/blinds.html I can only see codes for BMWs on their site.

Hi, only just got a Roomster a couple of weeks ago, and liked the look of the privacy shades.

I got mine from Vanstyle yesterday, and fitted today, took about 10 mins, and look pretty good. if you buy them from their ebay shop, they are about £5 cheaper than from their on-line shop.

Hi, I took my wife's Roomster to Executive Tints in Burton-upon-Trent this week and had the rear windows tinted black at a cost of £220 including VAT. It took around 3 hours and the car looks really good and you can no longer see that gap between the center seat and the parcel shelf. These guys are very professional and I had my Jag done there two years ago. The owner said that once you've had tints, you want all your subsequent cars to have them too for the privacy, heat deflection and looks that tints give you.

i am tiying with idea of having the se roomster its not a sporter car my girlfrend is not to keen on it but just the way things go

so its nice to hear wot people think about the roomster iam going to a test drive next sat

Hi Bripete,

"Sunset Glass" (as fitted to SE and Scout) is darker than standard tint - but it is not a black tint. You can still see through "Sunset Glass" into the rear of the car.

Few people consider the Roomy a sporty car and most buy it for its practicality. It is amazing what can be crammed into the back of the car with the rear seats removed. If you are looking for a sporty load-lugger, have you considered the Fabia VRS estate? Unfortunately on Fabia, the rear seats are not quickly removable.

I have owned my Roomy for fifteen months and still love it. It is without doubt the best car I have ever owned.

brochure they say its the cappuccino colour but it don't look the colour in the back of the book the only problem ive got with roomy is the gap at the back of the seats did you find this problem

my freind has the same problem with honda jazz . the colour i mite have is the silver black windows and the grapfics on the side enyway we will see thanks pete

We are going a bit off-topic, buddy ;)

Privacy shades and black-tinted glass will stop anyone from seeing into the rear of the car.

My Scout has sunset glass and I use a black cloth to cover anything that could otherwise be seen through the gap behind the rear seats.

There is also a £20 accessory available from Skoda dealers that covers the gap between the rear seats and the parcel shelf.

I'm happy with the work carried out by Pentagon, in Reading:

The car looks great with tinted windows!! And nice color too, by the way. Miami blue?

We have really dark window (5% and 15%) on our current Yeti, and will also get similar tinting on our Roomster once we get it sometime next summer.

The tints also blocks heat from the sun very well apart from vision into the car, so I think they are great value for the money. The interesting thing is that while you can't look into the car, you will still have good visibility out even in when it's dark, so I feel that I am really not missing anything by having "fixed" tinting.

I had them on my old vRoomster and thought they where great, with the added advantage of being to sell them on when I sold the car.

The fit of the Skoda ones was perfect, and they have a rigid rubber covered frame.

Here's a pic of the old motor with just the Sunset glass, the second is with the addition of the shades.
