Automatic Locking

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was flicking through the owners manual of my 2005 Octavia and it states that automatic locking can be enabled which means the doors will lock once I hit about 15km/h.

It says this can be activated by the dealer, does anyone know how this is done?

On my old car (Honda Civic) you could turn it on with a sequence using the ignition key

Thanks,

Dougall

It can be switched on using VCDS which uses the port under the steering wheel column. If you do not have this then there may be a member in your area that can do it for you or it is a trip to the dealer.

either through the maxidot screen or vagcom(vcds)

Thanks for the info.

Mattievrs - how do you mean via the maxidot screen?

Do you have a maxidot screen on your car? For your car it will be a large black screen between the speedo and rev counter. Another way to tell is if you open a door on the car do you get a graphic on a screen on the dash showing which door is open? If not then you do not have a maxidot screen and hence the only way to turn the function on would be with VCDS.

Yes I've got that, gives all the MPG info etc.

Never realised that's one maxi-dot referred to

With ignition on a car stopped you press the up button on the left stalk and hold. This should get you into the menu side of things and then look in the convenience section and should be a bit to turn on the auto locking.

Cool - thanks for that PSM.

My previous car was a Honda Civic and it had a similar method..............easy when you know how.

I'll give it a go

No joy.

It's a 2005 Octavia Elegance model, Maybe I'm doing something wrong:

The left stalk also contains the cruise control stuff, I'm holding down the up button of the rocker type switch on the end of the stalk with no joy (ignition is on but engine not started)

You hold the up button on the right side stalk (the wiper one).

Just worked it out............it's my fault.

Just read another thread and I don't have maxi-dot, I just have the 'half screen' display which gives limited info and by all accounts my only route is VCDS.

At least now I know exactly what maxi-dot is

Thanks for all the help.

I don't remember this option being available through Maxidot on my 05 elegance. It is there on my current FL 59 Elegance though. Both cars had Maxidot as an optional extra.

I think the OP will need to get the dealer to do it.
