Roofbars for new Skoda Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi,

We've got a 2010 Fabia 5 door hatchback - very happy with it!

We are driving a long journey though with 2 adults and a 14 year old, so got a Thule Weekender roofbox. I then realised that I also need roofbars and was a bit surprised to find out that the Skoda ones are about 150 pounds in the UK. Looked at alternatives, which all seem to be well over 100 pounds. Anybody able to suggest any alternatives that would fit please? I've seen 'universal' fitting ones from about 30 pounds online, but obviously need to be sure that they will fit the Fabia. I see the Fabia doesn't have those strips in the roof to fit, and understand that you have to clamp inside the door frames somehow?

One other quick question - we got a Thule Weekender roof box, which looks a good fit, but the roof aerial may be a bit in the way. Can the aerial just be bent back or something?

Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully received. I'm torn between getting the correct Skoda bars which I know will fit okay, and trying to save some cash as to me roof bars are just a basic thing - as long as they fit okay!

Thanks for any info, and I'm pleased to discover this forum, which I didn't know existed until today.

Cheers,

Rich

Hi and welcome,

I believe the Skoda systems are made by Thurle, which on the Roofbox site My link come out at £104. Regard the aerial that can be unscrewed leaving just the baseplate on the roof.

TP

I've got the Thule bars fitted on my 2009 Fabia and, as The Plumber says, they retail at about £100 or so. Make sure you get the latest feet for the bars as they only came out around June this year. I had the bars previously fitted to my Citroen C3 and only wanted the feet replacing. Needless to say, Thule cleverly withdrew the previous version before supplying the new ones so I had to take our bikes down south in the back of the car.
