Compatable Phones

Featured Replies

I have a new skoda superb, the problem is the list of phones that are compatable with my car is out of date (Prehistoric)

I currently have an Ipone whice I like, but it will not pair up with the bluetooth in my car.

Can anyone help, which phone does pair with the skoda bluetooth, preferably a new phone

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hello and welcome to the forum :hi:

Bluetooth is supposed to be universal so in theory it should just connect.

In practise however, things hardly ever work that way IE. connecting a 2.1 version bluetooth device to a 1.2version (as possible in the superb). I would double check the Iphone, as I had problems connecting my Iphone 3GS (on 4.0.1 firmware) to a nokia bluetooth handsfree car kit that was allready installed in the car.

If all else fails, try buying a bluetooth dongle and see if your iphone connects to that easily (they are about 9.99 in maplin or any decent mobile phone shop)

If it fails to connect, there lies your issue, the phone. If it does connect, try updating to the most recent firmware for the Iphone. If you can update without locking a jailbroken/ unlocked phone, do it asap. There have been updates to the bluetooth profiles on iphones recent ly so I hear.

Just another Apple messup!!!

Hi,

I'm new to the forum too and have exaclty same problem with the 'phone.

I was given an upgrade to iphone 32gb which is great but i didn't find out until too late that it won't match up with my Superb.

My local dealer tells me they're awaiting an upgrade from Skoda GB and SKODA GB tell me 'they're working on it'!

I understand some of the newer models are compatible so whats the problem?

I do a lot of driving for my job and need to be 'hands free'. It's causing me major problems, c'mon Skoda, pull your finger out anf get this sorted!

Anyone have any suggestions on getting around this problem-please bear in mind I can't re-fig any of the car as it's a company car.

Regards,

Covade

Hi Covade. What I would do in this situation is get a sun visor mounted bluetooth handsfree set, they're around £49.99 and as easy as pie to install, If you can call it that. they can either charge from the cars cigar lighter or you can charge it up at home and should last you all day. Motorola do a very good set, with a 6 hour talk time and around 16 hours standby. or if you like a cheper set there's one at Maplin for £24.99 with 16 hours talktime and 45 days standby. This seems like the best option for you at the moment, at least untill skoda sorts out the onboard bluetooth option.

Good luck!

Hi Adrian. Not a brilliant work-around due to loosinging all that functionality, but it's better then using one of those really pants earpieces that people on the street walk around with to make themseleves 'look' important. To be honest I thnk they look like right twits, but hey there you go.

Mind you, I used to own a nokia 6310i, which was good. dropped it sevral time and it still refused to give up the ghost. I only changed the phone due to work reasons insisting we all had blackberrys for the mobile e-mail! Comunism in work, gotta love it!! Now I own an iphone 3GS, I'd never go back to RIM blackberry, they are just soooo hard to set up correctly. The iphone is so easy to use, yet it does fll short in some areas, like spearkerphone loudness, it's just not loud enough for me.

Thankfully a nokia bluetooth car kit was already installed in the car when I bought it, so it makes things a lot simpler. Much better then the superbs onboard kit!

Hi Tony,

I'm with u on the earpieces-too much like Star Trek for me!

Recently found the following info which might be of interest via 'Whatcar?' on line.

Apparently, the 2011 Superb models will be compatible with iphones (& I assume they'll be able to update exisiting models) which is a step in the right direction.

In the meantime 'A company called Fiscon - also known as Richter Sport Ltd (based in Milton Keynes) - manufacture a unit which plugs into the back of the car's headunit and hides in the dashboard and means you get full iPhone control through the car's in-built microphone/speakers/buttons/dot matrix display etc. It's called the "VW/Skoda Basic + Bluetooth integration kit". ' Costs around £350.00.

Looks interesting but can't see my employer shelling out so I'll stick with what I've got!
