Hi, long term admirer, now owner

Featured Replies

Hi just a quick post to introduce myself after purchasing a Mk1 Octavia Vrs after admiring them for many years. They really are as good as i thought they would be, lol.

My name is Jon from Southampton, i'm normally a Ford bloke, having owned many Fiesta's, Mondeo's and my favourite car so far a Ford Racing Puma. Normally found lurking on Ford forums too, and attended Ford Fair this Sunday gone at Silverstone which was a top day.

Anyway after many years of longing to own a Vrs i stumbled across one advertised on eBay which caught my eye, made an offer and travelled to Essex yesterday to collect it. Its an '02 reg Silver Octavia MK1 Vrs with 93k on the clock and a brand new MOT.

I bought it from a nice fella who supplies cars for film sets he bought it from Essex police and has used the car in some filming for Silent Witness i believe. So anything i need to look out for with Ex-Police Octavia's?

Very happy with my purchase so far, it'll be staying standard as im a tight arse and resent paying a fortune for insurance £400 is already more than i'd like to pay.

With it being Ex-Police it's not been kept in the cleanest condition, the carpets need a shampoo the badges need replacing all round and unfortunately both front seat bases need replacing which should be sorted this weekend, along with a nice deep clean, clay, polish, wash etc.

Also need a few minor parts like a speaker grill (which is on order), ash tray as it won't stay shut, grab handle above drivers door, parcel shelf support and a blanking switch next to the petrol release cap as mine has a hole left from police equipment.

Anyway i'm sure i'll be asking alot of typical newby questions as im not getting on very well with the search function, lol.

Jon
