I have an Elegance Estate, and in the centre console (where the ashtray should be) there is a little storage compartment (Page 88 in the Skoda manual).

If you look up at the roof of the storage compartment, there is a white rectangular raised section - what is this? I thought it was a light, but it's never lit.

The attached pic is not that great - due to the naffy camera on my phone.

Does anyone know what this bit of plastic is?

Im going with Light, but it only comes on with the headlights.

Yep, that's right. You get a tiny amount of diffused light through it. You'll only see it when it's dark and your lights are on

Just got into the octy and fired up the engine - headlights on and absolutely black in the cabin (except the green leds on the centre console - air con, etc).

Nothing.. not a shred of light in the storage compartment.. so either it's goosed, after 1,700 miles from new - or it's not a light.

Anyone else got any ideas before I start ripping it apart?

Just pop the Ashtray out and check the bulb, might have gone

I dont recall it ever being on, and only had the car a month - although, I've not done any night driving recently.

Dropping SWMBO's Punto off for it's MOT this morning, so will do that later on today.
