More sound proofing under the bonnet? My 140 octy isn't very noisey................... ;)

Wind the windows up.

Sorry, but you did ask emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Is it the throaty sound bothering you?

They all do it, VAG set them up that way, probably the only way it might change other than carpeting the engine bay is a custom exhaust system.

Take your wife for a drive. Then tell her about your girlfriend. The engine noise will seem like Brahms after that!!

I put some noisereducing mats over the engine bay and in the doorpanels of our Vauxhall Vivaro the other day and it did help quite a bit, not spectacular awardwinning, but quite noticeable. Here is a guide to remove the doorpanels on a superb 1, put in some noisedampening material and put some under the hood. I was actually quite suprised to see that there was room for improvement under the hood of our superb 2010 1.9 TDI. If you remove the material under the hood you can shove a mat or two in the caveties that are thus exposed.

As stated before though, I myself are more troubled by the noise the tires make than the engine. But ours is only a 1.9 TDI.
