help with ODB-cable

Featured Replies

Hmmm

I could not face buying a brand new cable from ross tech, so I though I'd buy a cheapo cable from fleabay. It now hit my leftfield, what if this cable causes a shortcircuit?

Would anybody be able to indicate what the connection schematics should be and more importantly, how to test it?

Failing that, which software-hardware combo will allow me to check the measuring blocks, as I suspect a vacuum leak

(Edit: think I found it: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/vag-functions.html ??)

TIA

oh dear :( a bump it is then

anybody know how to make sure/ check isn't going to damage the car?

These are questions you should ask the person who sold you the hardware. Nobody here has a clue what exactly you bought, therefor no one can give you a real answer on what might happen or what software to use.

oh right, well I am talking about the pins out.

regardless of where or what cable cable I bought, it has to be connected to an ODB port of a 1U Estate skoda, so it has to observe and comply with a certain format/ voltage? I am worried I might fry the ECU, (say for example you are sending 12volt down a line which is only supposed to receive 5v ??) so I want to make sure each pin does what it is supposed to do.

Does this make more sense?
