supaguard

Evening all, hope you are all still spending as much time with your vehicles as you do on here

I am soon to take delivery of my new Octavia VRS, can't wait, i was asked by the dealer if i wanted to protect the vehicle with SUPAGUARD, this would be done inside and out, with a guarentee of 3 yrs at a cost of £139, now i know bugger all about such products and so i am very sceptical,

but on the other hand i do tend to not to look after my cars as well as i should, waxing my car is like a job that i would do if i had time spair and im just so busy doing shift work and helping other people out with one thing and another etc, im sure im not the only one like this, buy the way i dont think this is a miricle cure for such lack of elbow grease :giggle:

the other question is if the paint work is so easily damaged with bird poo, sun etc why the hell is it not a standard thing to help protect the second most expensive asset that we purchase,

thanks in advance of your feed back

the search is your friend :)

My link

The other thing is with the guarantee you have to keep topping it up yourself...

for that price, I would go for it...forget all about the guarantees, but at that price, it gives you a really good base to work on...my last 2 cars had it, but haggled skoda down to £99

When I took delivery of my vRS, I wanted to protect the interior and exterior for the turmoils of daily life. So I spent a rather enjoyable day prepping the car and applying Autoglym's Lifeshine. Bought a kit off ebay for about £50, which included a full valet holdall and a factory sealed lifeshine kit. I took my time and followed the instructions implicitly, so at least I know a dealer hasn't done a half-hearted job. The result was excellent - well worth the time spent.

it not going to last 3 weeks no matter about 3 years. spend £100 on a basic setup up with a good wax etc . massive waste of money.

hi

I've told the dealer not to bother cleaning my car (don't work some YTS scrubber putting an electric polisher all over it, lol)

I just want to seal the alloys and put a coating on the paint to last a few months...... Was thinking of this http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sample-sizes/finishkare-sample-kit/prod_601.html and maybe some Jetseal 109 for alloys. What do you think?

TIA

I did some investigation before asking dealer to do mine before i take delivery.

- Supagard only need top up once a year

- Auto glym requires top up twice a year.

I would check which one the dealer is really doing, as auto glym is cheaper than supgard but my dealer said he was offering supgard, when i checked, it was actually auto glym, I am getting a case of top up products as part of the price, & having seen what is being offered, this should last 2-3 years based on recommendations.

I suspect you have been offered auto glym, & for that price its a good one, as i also checked out pricing on an indipendent detailer doing this & not the dealer, they both worked out the same.

Ok, thanks for all your inputs, so in that case i will ring the dealer and ask them what the product is, what to use to keep it in top condition, then try to get some free stuff. after all the kids are to young to clean the car for me and not old enough to stop messing it up  At least it will give me a peace of mind and something to start with

Waste of money imo, for me part of the enjoyment of owning a car is taking pride in keeping it looking good and eye catching.

Whats to stop us getting a bit of a head start to help keep it pristine. emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

I had it done to my black MK 1 VRS back 2003 and after a few months as I was drying the car I could feel the leather starting to stick etc (I'd also noticed the dust building up quicker on the bonnet) and when you ran your hand over the paint work the smoothness had gone so I topped up the polish with the supplied bottle stood back and though nope and then went off to buy some Meguiars. Mind you back then it was nearly £300 for the treatment so up to you at the end of the day.

they just dont work, Pollution tar bird poo ect ect will eat these products away in weeks. If they work why do supercar owners pay thousands for cleaning contacts which involve waxing every month?

Haven't read any reply, but my views on supergaurd is, if used correctly its good. However i was a valter for about 4 years. Worked in.a few different dealers & the full valters pack never got used. I've used a few on my own cars, but its not as good as it sounds. Best buying some off the shelf stuff, good quality & you know what's going on.the car. I've got a load of supagaurd stuff in the house, but prefair other stuff.

Supaguard was offered to me but I didn't even bother reading the leaflet as there is no way these products can live up to the hype (IMHO),

A proper cleaning regime using quality products is cheaper and produces a far better finish.

As for letting the kids clean it -Nuff said

Spend a quarter of the money on some quality stuff like the man said, then you can enjoy doing the job ten times better than what you would have got having paid for it !

I had Supaguard on my last car (Golf) & one before that a Pug, was it worth the money? No, even though I topped it up as per instructions, I didn't notice any difference in the external appearance, they still got dirty & still needed waxing. Absolute waste of time & money.

You'd be better off buying a quality wax.

I have both on the drive. I got freebies on SWMBOs (Supaguard) and mine (Autoglym). I am not impressed with Supagurad, although I must admit that the paint finish on a FIAT is probably inferior to the Octy
