Colour coded grille

Featured Replies

Had a quick search for this but nothing came up...

Seen a few people on here with colour coded grilles (the chrome bit). Just wondering whats involved? Is there a how-to hanging about anywhere?

I'd ideally like to keep my standard chrome one for putting it back to standard, so how much is a new chrome-bit from dealers? Part number?

Did all models have chrome bezel or is there one that comes primered ready for painting?

Also fitting guide - how easy are they to swap over and what's involved?

Thanks,

Andrew

I've blackened my grill over the chrome. The grill comes apart into three sections, not sure if you can buy the chrome bit separetly?

You have to really scotch the chrome for the new paint stick, other wise one stone chip could ruin the lot.

Carbon wrap FTW

The 2 main benefits of this are it's far more resilient to stone chips

than paint seems to be. I've had mine on at least 6 months now and it's unmarked.

Also, it just sticks to the chrome but can be peeled off at a later date

without ruining the chrome piece. Back to OEM in 10 minutes flat.

Heres mine...

Mine cost £40 to be done by somebody who knows what they're doing :D

The vinyl would have been 30quid on it's own at the time.

I sprayed mine with plasticote rubberized paint from ebay. Didnt prep it or anything and it's been fine for about 4k now. No chips or anything!

Wrap it, seriously! its a little fiddly but worth it at the end of the day!

if you are handy with a craft knife and a hair dryer then give it a go.

Come on Gaz with your locks you should know how to use a hair dryer :giggle:
