Parking lights

I'm not bothered but I have noticed that if I use the parking lights (where you put the indicator on when the ignition is off), the side light dash light comes on if I put the indicator on as if doing a left turn but it doesn't if I put it on the other way. The lights on the relevant sidelights still come on but was wondering if the dash light should come on for both or not at all. Just something I noticed while messing around as I do sometimes. As a side note, had the MOT last week and it passed again with no work needed again, 149,200 miles and still going strong, touch wood. In between MOT's I have done the elephant mod and the smoke test results were much better this time round, not noticed any other benefits though.
