map sensors

Featured Replies

hi folks, does anybody know off hand what range of values you should be roughly getting from the map sensor on the 1.4 16v engines? well mine is a early 1.6 but it has exactly the same map sensor as the later fabia's/polo's etc so i guess the map readings should be fairly similar... what's a typical idle load %? full throttle load%?

the problem i have is that at around 2500rpm i'm getting a slight hestitation and/or missfire, and as soon as it passes this it pulls like normal, i've ruled out the throttle position sensor inside the throttle body becuase i can see this behaving properly using vag-com, plus i have swapped it out for another throttle body that is known to be working 100% to check, all the dizzy, leads, plugs are new and the ignition timing is set bang on 6 BTDC as per the factory workshop manual...

i appear to get some odd looking numbers regarding the load (%) from the map sensor, so i just wondered what the collective knowledge is on this, the only other thing is i have no egr valve on there, but i'm led to believe this only functions when the coolant is >90 degrees and this mystery fault happens pretty much all the time even when cold...

it's only really noticeable if going up a really steep hill, where you can actually feel it properly missifiring

any help would be great

i'll get some logs done next time i road test a 16v mate and see what they say
