Airbag replacement

Featured Replies

Hi, the airbags on my audi a3 popped a while back, one seat, one dash and driver side. a seatbelt was also messed up.

I managed to replace the dash and seat one, got the seat sown back up got a new seatbelt and also got a airbag ECU. The steering wheel one should be done soon.

Now when I put the airbag ECU in at the end, do I need to get it reprogrammed by Audi?

My cousin who had a similar situation on his Golf, said you don't need to he said when you put the new ECU in it works fine and the airbag light goes off.

So should I just put the ECU in and not goto Audi?

Try changing the ECU first. If the light doesn't go off off check your wiring connections, etc.

If still no luck, don't go to a stealership - find an independent VAG specialist

The stealership will try to tell can't be done - have to buy new - give lots of $ to VAG .... etc, etc ...

ps

Check the Ross-Tech website to make sure you don't buy one of the faulty early airbag ECU's

Somewhere on the site they have the part number(s) of the faulty airbag ECU's

Might also have some info on changing/diy/etc
