My 1.8 TSI is due it's first variable service (17k) and I just wondered what sort of price I could expect to pay? I also need two new tyres (depending on what price they offer) and have asked for them to investigate a constant clutch smell and a couple of rattles but would like to know what the basic service costs.

I'll obviously ask my two local dealers but does it vary all over the country?

depends where you go, every variable service is major so looking at £200 to £300 ish I reckon. Dont get the tyres from a main dealer go to a tyre specialist, look for a recent thread on wheel damage by a main dealer for a reason to go elsewhere.

Service prices vary throughout the uk, due to labour charges. each dealer is a franchise and although the pay the same for parts, they are free to charge what they like for labour.
