No I was going back yesterday anyway to complain, but the courtesy call came first so I was able to have a moan on the phone first.

Anyway I called in last night, got the refund on the 505 top up oil and had the service book stamped. The attitude of the service manager left something to be desired as when I asked for the refund on the oil because it was the wrong spec he just looked at me and said "what makes you think it's the wrong spec?"! Grrr! A***hole!

I went on to ask more details about the bulk oil they use in the workshop, and apparently it comes from VAG and they put it in ALL the cars they service - Skodas and Mitsubishis (they are a dual dealership). They said it's long life and good for all the engine types but could not give me an absolute spec, so I'm still not convinced it's 507 00 compliant - I only have their word for it. I would have thought they would maybe have some sort of spec sheet they could have shown me but nothing was forthcoming. To cap it all both the service manager and his boss told me categorically I CAN top up with 505 00 spec oil!

Anyway a letter will be winging it's way to Skoda UK, and I'll add a nice review in the dealership section of this forum.

I have 5 litres of Mobil 1 507 in the garage so I think I'll change the oil myself tomorrow just for peace of mind, then carefully choose a different dealership for the next variable service. In fact for every subsequent service I'm going to supply my own oil. Can't go wrong then surely.......?

Cheers,

Bob

I would be demanding a refund and also have a signed letter from them saying that 505 00 is safe so you can also send that to SUK to show their incompetence.

My suggestion is go to Winchester Motor Co in Winchester for your next service. They are the only Skoda garage that I have found in Hampshire that actually seem to know what they are doing. Have had a number of warranty items fixed FOC and 1 service there so far. Next service is the big cambelt one and it will be going there again !

Avoid Sparshats at all costs, mine and a good friends experiences have been really poor. He was actually sworn at twice when buying his new car - naturally the dealer has denied this when challenged and never properly apologised. They also messed up his private plate transfer and he very almost lost title to the plate. Needless to say they will never be getting any warranty or service work from him (ever).

Have to disagree with you there on your first point (From experience) and was less than impressed with Sparshats when the did work on my car too.

I would say that the main dealer in Sway were the only ones in Hampshire that have not managed to c*ck something up.
