Has anyone driven a greenline II ye

Featured Replies

Hello,

Went down to my local skoda dealer today and took a testdrive in the 1.4 tdi as an approximation to the 1.2 Greenline 2.

Has anyone actually driven a greenline 2 yet? If so, any comments?

I was disappointed the lead times are so long; was told might not get it in time for the VAT discount.

Skoda have publically said (I believe) that any cars ordered by the end of September will still be VAT free, even if they are not delivered until next year. It was in some magazines and discussed somewhere else on this forum.

So you should still have time.

As for comparing the 1.4 and 1.2 diesel, I can only guess. I have ordered a Greenline II which is due in about four weeks. I'm expecting it to be a bit more agricultural than the 1.4.

All the reviews have said it's a harsh engine, when it's been tried in the Seat and VW Polo. Possibly because it's got less cylinders and possibly because it's slow. 0-60 is something like 14 or 15 seconds. So reviewers have probably been revving the whatsits off it to get reasonable performance. That is a noticable performance gap to the 1.4. As I plod when going to and from work at about 60mph for 40 miles I can live with the expected characteristics.

Thanks for the feedback. Took the family to look at it, and the feeling was the Fabia was too small, so we're now looking at the Octavia 1.6 Greenline instead.

And the dealership confirmed the VAT discount will hold for cars ordered by sept 31.

Hi,

there was an article in the Auto Express which quoted a spokesperson from Skda UK stating that orders placed before the end of September will be protected from the VAT increase.
