Anybody got a felicia with a decat?

Featured Replies

if so are there many advantages? and are there many disadvantages besides putting it back on 4 MOT

i do but only for ground clearance (road rally car) i really doubt you will notice the differance in removing it tho mate

i'm about to chop my cat out and chuck it in my next door neighbours wheelie bin when they are at tesco's... i'll let you know how i get on with it  i'm more likely to notice an improvement over a bog standard felicia

what are you putting in its place? and arent cats worth money?

i'm going to weld in a braided flexi pipe, and no, contary to what the people at the scrapyard tells you, cats are worth nothing second hand

what if they told you 'here have a tenner'

they collect ours for £25 each mate for the felicia ones and more for the bigger ones.. course to a man as rich as you thats pocket money tho :thumbup:

ha, ok i'll try and sell it then, if I get £25 for it i'll eat my hat :giggle:

We had about six catalytic converters stolen off cars on our forcourt at my last place inc DPFs.

Also if you are decatting look out for one of these....

Seen a few about now and one of my mates had a notice given and a fine.

ah, yes the dreaded government arse sniffer box :giggle:

fortunately i have legitimately exploited a loophole in the MOT test so that my pickup does not need to meet the same emissions specs as a normal one, mine is tested as a non-cat car

Because it is tested on the engine fitted?

the emissions data for the engine does exist if it were a polo, but under that particular vehicle it's not listed on the DOT database so it can quite legally be tested as a non-cat, it's there in black and white in the mot testers handbook... how long this loophole will remain open is another question entirely

Also, should you own a smallholding etc, and re-register your vehicle as an "agricultural vehicle" then emissions are ignored, and MOT requirements are less stringent. However, you have to be registered as a farmer, and have proof that you are one from DEFRA in order to get away with it. (My late uncle used to do this with his landies & Sherpas many moons ago - used to be MAFF back then).

From what i remember, (i was only likkle) it also meant he could also use red diesel in thoe road vehicles, so long as they didn't travel more than 10 miles (or was it 5?) from his property.....

This is a fair few years ago now, mind....

that is indeed true, but it's 25 mile radius now iirc
