electric door lock & sunroof

Featured Replies

Hi,

Son has a 99 1.9d felicia, with central locking.

The drivers door lock now goes round & round...I read somewhere about the 'cam' breaking & needing replacing - I can find nothing about this in the Haynes manual.....any help appreciated.

We already have two keys, as the previous owner had the ignition lock replaced, so don't really want a third - is it possible to replace the lock parts, and is it simple? or am I best to replace the complete barrel from a breakers?

Also, a 'friend' of his kicked a football and broke the sunroof yesterday.....I've found a sunroof at a breakers yard, but is it easy to fit?

thanks guys.

If the barrel on a door is turning and turning the problem is the lock barrel. If the push rod had broken the lock would still not spin around. A bodge fix could be to swap the barrels from passenger to drivers leaving the passenger one broken. ISTR they're not handed on the Felicia.

On the sunroof my Favorit one could be replaced in under a minute, there was a metal tab at the rear that you just pushed forwards, releasing the pane. I believe there have been more than one type of sunroof fitted to the Felicia though.

I replaced the door-lock on my 2000 Fun pickup. Dealer price for a whole barrel made to fit the key, von zose vunderbar Deutschlanders, was about 25 quid. Took six weeks to turn up though, but for the money, I wasn't going to complain. Took me a just over an hour to take the door apart and replace the barrel. The dealer will want to see the V5 and some proof of ID.

Only knowledge I have on a sunroof was on a Clio, and that was stupidly easy to replace.

:)

Sunroofs - it seems most Felicias have the wheel type, which is apparently much like the old Fiesta I had (wind it fully open, use key or similar to push release tab under the back of the wheel, lift out). Mine has the 3-position flippy-handle type, which isn't all that different (open fully, slide release catch upwards to open hinge, lift out). If you're very unlucky and have one of each so you can't do a straight swap, I strongly suspect the all mounting holes are in the same place anyway so you should be able to swap the mechanisms over (it's only 2 screws holding it to the glass)

Re: The lock problem

This sounds exactly like the issue my felicia had when i bought it. Your problem is that the lugged metal ring, that controls the stop postitions, has snapped. This allows the lock barrel to spin in it's housing. It is held onto the back of the lock barrel by a circlip, and when in place, holds down a spring that makes the lock return to central postition when turned. Replacing it is easy-ish, and requires a pair of small pliers, a pair of circlip pliers and plenty of patience. There is an entry in the haynes on removing/replacing the lock barrel - next to the bit on window mechanism. Suggest you source a second hand lock/barrel from ebay/scrappy so that you can see what it is supposed to look like when assembled. One word of warning - getting the ball back into the plastic arm is a pain in the bum. My solution was to widen the hole in the arm a little using a drill bit.

Re: Sunroof

No idea - previous owner sealed mine up with silicone sealant. havent had time to look at it yet.

Dan.

Pliers/mole grips may help get the ball thingy back on the rod.

Simon, if you want to try this, I think I've still got the original barrel from mine. There are none of the "locky bits" inside the barrel, but the clip and everything else is intact :)
