Brakes stuck after parked up

Featured Replies

Car (vRS) is a month and a half old, almost 2k miles (has the standard brakes).

Been parked up for a few days over the Xmas hols on driveway which is on a slope.

Twice now after not driving it for a day, the brakes have stuck on after releasing the handbrake, and have had to give it some to get it to move  Clunk!

The brakes then sound bad with little grip for a short distance. After that they seem OK

Is this the result of loads of salt on roads recently? I've never known it in any motor I've had before. Anyone else noticed this?

I have the same on my Octy. I tend to leave car in reverse without the handbrake if its frosty. I imagine it is just road grime collecting on the pads and drying, sticking pads to discs.

It is the salt etc on the roads like you say.

Little tip if you put it in reverse first this usually will free them up.

:D Thanks for your replies. Was a bit scary driving off down the hill this afternoon not knowing whether I'd stop at the junction

Roll on sunny spring weather... Had enough of the snow and ice now that Xmas is over LOL :P
