Bolero Radio and Parking Sensor Display Problems

Featured Replies

My yeti had intermittent problems with the parking sensors display on the bolero radio and gremlins in the radio recently. When the parking sensors were on there was no display on the radio screen. The radio wouldn't come on when the car was started, it would go off when it was on and it would stay on when the ignition was turned off and the key removed. The dealership identified a fault with the ignition contact switch when they ran diagnostics. The ignition contact switch was replaced and the gremlins have disappeared.

Good news all round then :D

I have exactly the same problem. I suspected the ignition switch since 'jiggling' the key often produced a change in state. Can you please advise how long it took the dealer to do the work? Did they keep the car and give you a courtesy car or was it all done in a few hours?

Thanks.

It was all done in a few hours. I left the car with the dealer at 9.00. They had identified the problem and ordered the part before 10.00. The part arrived and was fitted that afternoon. The car was ready to be collected at 3.30. I didn't need a courtesy car as I work near the dealership. Hope your problem can be solved in a few hours.

So I finally submitted to taking the Yeti for electrical diagnosis at the dealers.

To sum up the symptoms are:

The radio turns of at random intervals when the ignition is on (when the keys are out the radio is ok).

The reverse parking display on the Bolero radio does not display, thought the audio bleeping works.

The diagnosis is:

New ignition switch required.

Has anyone else had similar fault and what was the outcome? I wonder how long it takes to obtain then replace this switch. I would that thought that the ignition switch would not power the radio directly but through a relay operated by the ingition switch?

Will let you know the outcome.
