Instructions for Switching xenons for EU driving

Featured Replies

Recently moved to France and booked car into local VW garage to get car made compliant for French registration.

Does anyone know where I can get instructions of how to remove headlight and switch over for EU driving in FRENCH for the dealer to refer to?

Found a guide in English with photos and another link that says should be able to download French version of owner manual from Skoda.com but I can't see how I can do this.

Can anyone help?

Merci beaucoup

THe dealer must know how to take the headlight out.

Once out must take the rubber round sealent to access the lamp.

Inside you will see a small leaver like a switch. Move it up or down. This will put the beem flat. Good for EU.

Although I didn't do it to mine when I went over recently (used the stick-on thingies), this guide seems to cover it: http://octavia-vrs.com/cms/content/eu-headlight-conversion

Edit: Although the 2nd paragraph states: 'Legislation due to come into effect in March 2008 states that if people are going to be resident for longer than 3 months on the EU mainland they MUST purchase lights with a beam pattern reflecting up to the right however holidays and shorter trips will still be allowed to use flat beam.' Hrm

I don't believe that method works for Xenon lights though, only for halogen headlights

Don´t understand why if what you see is Xenon lights :)

Don't the Xenons look different at the back with a ballast etc for the auto-leveling and not the standard rubber seal over the back of the bulb?

There was a thread on here sometime ago from someone who had the xenon lights and no maxidot and he was looking at a complete headlight realignment every time he went abroad as the trick with the little lever doesn't work on the xenons (facelift car at least)
