ECU dealer updates

Featured Replies

This may seem a strange question but can anyone say how often dealers supply updates (that might, say, wipe a remap....)?

How do you mean how often?

We now have online links to the factory so new updates come out all the time rather than waiting for CDs like we used to have to do.

However as its a process and takes time its not something we would do unless asked to or there is a fault requiring us to.

Is there a version list with fixes and release notes anywhere on the web??

Not that I know of. They aren't published as they change so often any list would be out of date quite quickly which is why all bulletinsand workshop data are online so they are being updated regularly.

Mine was in for a minor problem and the dealer kindly removed my re-map, luckily the nice chap from chipboost sorted it for £20, I am sure the service manager did it out of spite as he was smirking when I went to pick the car up. (But I could just be paranoid).

Did you tell them it was remapped and what was the car in for?

Thanks Lummox. I take it you're a Skoda dealer?

As you probably guessed, I'm contemplating a chip and it can't go via the diagnostic port. Is Skoda trying to prevent chipping to avoid warranty claims as a result of them? And, of course, is the warranty invalidated by them?

Of course the warranty will no longer be valid. Some manufactures are sending ECU's to Bosch when turbo's, gearboxes etc are failing to see if a map has been applied. It's fair really isnt it.

A bit like overclocking a computer, I wouldn't then expect intel to give me a free new CPU.
