From what I understand, the compressor runs all the time on these to keep the gases moving. You can't switch the unit completely off. Also, my Elegance, with Climatronic, has settings for LO, 16.0, 16.5, 17, 17.5, 18 etc upwards to 29.5 then HI.

I get the feeling that "LO" is very like the ordinary air con (not climatic) systems you find of US rental cars. Just keeps blasting out cool air - wonderful in Florida and Georgia!!!

Have never used (or even seen) "HI" - must be like sitting inside an oven?

I can never understand why someone would buy a car with climate control,that can bet set to a temp,ie 21 deg,and left in auto all year round,no fiddling turning temp up and down ,opening windows etc,and then not use it in case it effects their mpg. Do these people avoid turning on their lights,as the load on the alternator will effect their mpg also??
