VW Flash Red vs Corrida Red

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I currently have a 03 Fabia in Corrida red. I have a scratch and am looking to repair it myself. I have found both Corrida red and VW Flash red. Unfortunately the Corrida red is 3x the price @ around £15 as opposed to around £5 for VW Flash red for a spray can. Does anyone know if these paints are the same? Can I use VW Flash red as a substitute for Corrida red?

Many thanks in advance.

They are different codes, so different colours.

I've had touch up kits and bits from www.paints4u.com and they were very good.

Hi, thank you very much for your response. This is great. I have found the Full Basecoat Aerosol Repair Kit on paints4u which looks perfect. Thanks very much for your help. Much appreciated.

Good stuff and good luck with the repair! If I remember rightly, when you buy a kit like that, they send you some instructions on how to go about it.

Incidentally, I personally prefer the small bottles rather than a can for touching up, as the paint is thicker (doesn't need to spray) but that said if there's anything you might want to spray later you can't do that with a little bottle!

Something else you might need to check is that I think Corrida Red is a solid colour and not a clear over base. Basecoat itself has no shine so you might want a solid paint that is a single shiny coat - I was looking for a Corrida Red vRS myself (1st choice) and noticed the ones I saw seemed to have scratches into the colour indicating a solid and not clear over base (COB) application.

But check with the folks on here or call paints4u as I didn't spend a lot of time analysing when browsing round cars.
