Clutch issues

Featured Replies

Personally I find it amazing that the standard clutch is not up to handling standard torque. The car comes with a warranty that should cover

faulty parts.. I would point out that from the word go this clutch is failing in

its design.

Also because of the worrying trend of early life clutch failures in Octy's and Fabias then the standard product should be redesigned to handle more

and last longer..

All the VAG group cars are getting more powerfull with more torque ( Ibiza Cupra 160 TDI ). If the clutch is the same as the vRS then it will not last long..

I think that the warranty 'clause' of a friction item and thus having virtually

no warranty terms is complete crap!! As almost all clutchs you can buy come with a 2 or 3 year warranty...

Also you can how a clutch has been used/abused usually by inspecting the

condition of it...

Definitely sounds worth the upgrade - I hate clutch failures as they can potentially cause damage & dangerous conditions. Not as bad as the clutch pedal snapping as you're about the change into second with a lorry behind you though ;)

Who said that? I dont recall anyone saying that... and those who have had faulty clutches have AFAIK had them replaced under warranty. Those with chipped cars can hardly be surprised that their clutch is failing when their car is producing, in some cases, almost 50% more torque than standard.

I wondered about this. Does the beeza Cupra TDI have the same clutch? Because its known that VAG cars produce up to 20 bhp more in some cases than their claimed, figure, then the clutch in that should be designed to cope with at least 180 bhp and probably around 280 lb ft and still have some tolerance to cope...

Does sound like clutch slip to me...ive even had it and im standard engine wise  I remember neo saying that the only way round it was to boot at higher revs. Bit of a bugger that sorry i cant help :thumbdwn: I would take it back to the dealer as youve got nothing to lose at all :)

He said it....

Also thats my point.. The components should have a tolerence...

as not all engines will produce exactly 130bhp....

Ta..
