Coming/Leaving Home

Featured Replies

I have changed my coming/leaving home function to turn on the foglights instead of the headlights.

Octavia Break 06/2010

I would like to be able to set that up on my car.

Please could you give exact details how you did it.

Thank you

Liking that idea alot

Cheers

Seen this mentioned before and I would prefer that too. I had a look last week at the relevant VCDS controller section, but I couldn't see any options for using the fogs.

Info please

Thanks,

Steve

SORRY FOR ERASING, SOME PEOPLE WERE OFENDED FOR SOMEONE ELSE FINDING THIS OUT

Ah OK, so it's not a direct 'use foglights for coming/leaving home' setting - I understand now

Can understand this though, so as not to have the xenons fire just for this function - could shorten the life of the ballasts.

I don't have factory fitted xenons either, so I will try this.

Thanks,

Steve

Yes Steve

On the maxidot you have the coming home and leaving home function., this function will only work if you have the lights on AUTO and when it´s dark enough.

When you unlock the car the lights will come on, parking lights and headlights ( same when you leave the car, when you pull the key out from ignition)

Soo, this will make the parking lights come on and the foglights, your headlights will not come on.

Yes thanks - realise those points. I have them both available at the moment, but just use the leaving home function. I just thought it was a good idea to use the foglights (which get no use in general) instead of the main dipped beam.

These two functions will actually work without auto lights and a light sensor being fitted, although my existing Elegance does have a sensor fitted (but no auto lights) so yes, the function only works when it's dark enough - which is a nice touch :)

I have got Xenons but would prefer the foglights for this feature, seems a bit distracting to other drivers to have the xenons blast away sometimes. I tend to turn off the auto lights in such situations. The foglights would be much more subdued.

Anyone :'(

Patience! :)

I'll change the setting next time I have VCDS connected

It´s a matter of trying to see if it works on those who have original xenons.

Like I said mine does not have them original. It has a retrofit Kit CAN-BUS.

+1

exactly my thoughts too.

hopefully this feature works with factory fitted xenons too.

The feature is listed exactly for factory fitted xenons, to combat the problem of the xenon ballasts needing to fire up and shut down more times than is strictly necessary.

So it'll work fine

I've got factory fitted Xenons, plus the new DRLs in place of fogs on a new Scout, due for delivery in a couple of weeks. How will the coming/leaving home setup work with this combination of lighting?

So the FL Scout doesn't have foglights?? I'm sure the ones I've seen pictures of on here so far have had them fitted Simon? If that's the case the procedure is the same as set-out before. With factory xenons the setting might already be in place.

If it doesn't have fogs, I can't see any other option that to use the xenon dipped beam...

perfect. that's exactly the way i want it to be. :)

i just hope my dealer knows how to configure the settings to make it operate that way.

The MY 2011 Scout still has fogs as standard. however, if you choose the option for DRLs, they are installed the holes normally occupied by the fog lights. So if you opt for DRLs you don't get fogs (and vice versa).

A couple of people on this forum have retained the standard fogs and done their own modification to install DRLs into the honeycomb grill.

Ahh right - could seem that they've not made any modifications to the bumper of the FL Scout then, if that's the case! Shame that really.

Only thing to try really is enable the xenon option in VCDS for coming/leaving home and see what happens

Anyone succeded to activate 2nd rear fog light on O2FL ?

It would be nice if you could activate the LED DRL's to illuminate instead of your xenons!

When DRL's become law next year I guess that will mean all Scouts will loose their front fogs.

I wonder what Skoda will do on the S and SE spec Octavia's that just have plastic grills where the fogs/DRL's normally are, will they then get front fogs as standard?

  • 2 weeks later...

Anyone has VCDS coding for enabling fog lights instead of xenons? Or it's a secret now?

Don't know why some of the posts in this thread have been edited. A bit weird...

No secret - just a case of telling convenience you have xenons installed, so it will use the fogs for coming home/leaving instead of dipped beam. I've not tested the coding yet though.
