Anyone got a Symphony CD and/or MP3 Head Unit

Featured Replies

Morning All

Just wondering if anyone has replaced OEM CD head unit with an after market one and is looking for a good home for the old one?

I'd be even happier if someone had the MP3 version?

Its a tape and changer one, you can still put an ipod connector on to this unit but you lose the changer.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm afraid this is what I currently have. I would like ideally to replace the Tape head unit with the MP3/CD head unit, but if I can't get hold of one I'd settle on the CD head unit.

I want to keep the changer, just add the ability to play a CD from with in the car, and ideally MP3s, for long journeys.

How can you tell if symphony CD is MP3 compatible? I have my Symphony unit which is out of the car as I don't have the code! So would happily swap for a aftermarket CD tuner unit! as long as it works.

Ahh, well that's a very good question....

I have seen photos of a CD/MP3 unit that says MP3 just above the CD slot on the right.

That made me think you got a CD version, Symphony Auto - I thought, and a CD/MP3 version. Then I found this...

https://mediaportal.skoda-auto.com/resource/documentation/manuals/en/OctaviaTour/06-2009/Radio/A4_OctaviaTour_Symphony_CarRadio.pdf

Which looks like what I thought was the CD only version, but talks about it playing MP3s.

So I guess unless someone can tell us for sure, then the only way to confirm would be put a couple of MP3s on a CD, turn the volume right down, slap the CD in the hole and see what happens.
