Fabia vRS Oil

Featured Replies

After loads of driving around and messing about trying to get some oil today I came across this on the shell website...

Anyone know where i can get a bottle of Shell Helix Diesel Plus VA 5W-40 from ?

Hmmm. wonder if it will be cheaper than Skoda own oil from the dealer? :D Silly suggestion, but is it worth trying major Shell garages first for this stuff?

Any reason why you dont want the VAG oil?

I noticed that the new Skoda's have Shell stickers on them, strange as they allways used to be Castrol, and thats who our dealer has a contract with, guess they swapped.

I couldn't find any vw 505 01 at our local halfords (Leeds). I even asked a member of staff and after checking, aparently they don't even stock it!

Had the same result at the local motorsave too :-(

I'm gonna try my nearest skoda agents again tomorrow when the service counter is open but they wheren't much help or even overly interested today so that kind of puts me off. The sales guys didn't even know what type of oil it took !

I didn't buy my car from them in the first place as they never bothered calling me back on two occasions

I just thought it would be nice to use what it says under the bonnet if you know what i mean... I know its only a top-up but I like to treat her right

Shell Helix Diesel Plus VA is a semi-synthetic 505 01 oil. There are at least 2 fully synthetic oils which meet that VW spec. See the Article below for a list of suitable oils:

If you go to the dealer ask for this....

Part number - G 052 167 A2

You can also get a pouch that they fit in that has velcro on the back so it dont fly around the boot. My pouch is from VW but I think Skoda do one also, you can see it on the left in this picture..

Ross, does the information on the bottle mention whether it is a semi or fully synthetic oil? I ask so that I can update the Article list.

I will double check Denis and let you know.
