Rear exhaust box replacment TDI 130

Featured Replies

Need to replace the back box on my 1.9 tdi 130 bhp ASZ engine , been quoted £135 by Kwik S...t and up to £195 at other fitters , any recomendations on alternative suppliers , and then get someone to fit it , i have the original on at present so should i fit just the back or more . Thanks

Have a look at Jetex, I seem to remember there full stainless system being about £195, lifetime guarantee and if it fits anything like the one on my MkII GTI, it will be as good as the original.

How much is a genuine backbox from Skoda?

most aftermarket performance exhausts will only fit if you have the vrs rear bumper, if you want a performance system/backbox look for someone who make a discreet Bora back box as these are a straight fit with the relevant tailpipe to not require the vrs bumper or OEM bumper cutting. I went for the Miltek Bora Discreet back box to keep the stealth :giggle:B)

As for OEM replacements try EuroCarParts, I found them cheaper online rather than going into the shop, you also get free delivery if you order online

The original has lasted this long why not fit another ? Buy one from VAG/Skoda and get an independant garage to fit it . Don't get a exhaust supplied by any of the "quick fit" type stations as the cheap exhausts they supply are invariably low quality - look O.K. but will last only a couple of years. Just replacing the rear should be O.K. as the rear usually fails a lot earlier than the rest of the system especially on diesels. My 11 year old MK4 TDI Golf still had the original exhaust at 145,000 miles.

My 2001 TDI is still going strong with its original exhaust - 171k, so I would recommend another Skoda part

remember my dad having 1 back box every year for 3 years replaced under warrenty by kwick fit. Refused to extend the warrenty saying it was on the original perchance only
