Self fix Airbag fault light (Drivers wiring loom under seat)

Featured Replies

Third time the light has come on I would hazard a guess the light is on again for the same reason, the wiring loom under the drivers seat. It was done twice before under warranty (and told it was replaced not repaired), but obviously not a decent job as its on again! Is it an easy fix, or is it something that could blow up in my face (literally) if it went a little bit wrong?

Awesome GTi did this repair on my wife's A3 a coupe of years ago. Basically removed the plug and hardwired in a small loom.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, but was more hoping to know if it was an easy job for a DIY'er? dont want to set the airbag off in my face, etc. ;)

It won't go off if you disconnect the battery first.

But if it might if you have wired it up wrong then reconnect..lol

There are three wires in the plug under the seat, usual repair is to remove the connector and join the wires back up together again directly thus removing the chance of a poor connection. However there are many reasons a airbag light can come on, a fault code check is up first. If is is a side airbag fault and the connections have been done then its probably a fault with the airbag or the loom that is part of it.
