PAS Playing Up

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I havent been a Fabia owner for too long.

I recently bought a nicely modded yellow vRS with coilovers and the TT brake upgrade.

Since buying it a few months ago the PAS has started playing up. I have read the various posts about low voltage and the agle sensor being dodgy however please read my symptoms as they dont seem to match anything that I have found whilst searching (and I have been searching for a while now!!! -I used to have a honda crx and was an active member of the forum so I am aware that not searching properly gets you all kinds of abuse). Hopefully I wont make a fool of myself.

Most other examples I have found of PAS failure have been regarding warning lights etc....

My PAS is best described as sluggish.

If i turn the wheel slightly whilst parked the PAS has a delayed reaction then a juddering effect whilst trying to move the wheel, you can feel the assist but it just doesnt feel smooth or that strong.

I haven't had any kind of warning light regarding this.

I borrowed a friends DTC fault reader today and there was no errors returned.

This would lead me to believe that this is not an issue with the battery or the angle sensor as most people who have issues with these have DTC errors.

I am hoping that it is something as simple as the fluid level is low. Although with the system being sort of delayed I thought it may be the angle sensor playing up??!!?!?

In the user manual the PAS reservoir is not listed, I can see there is what looks to be a reservoir in front of the engine and a pump behind the drivers side headlight.

However I have not found a PAS reservoir. Could someone point me in the direction of this?

Having owned a crx for so long I have no experience with PAS at all!!!!!

All help and advice is most appreciated guys!

Thanks,

Rob.
