fabia fmic

Featured Replies

hi i was looking at getting a fmic for my fabia vrs.would this make the car any quicker or not?my car has had remap and has 160 pd intake and de-cat pipe.

It will reduce heat soak and that's about it.

will i feel a difference in power??

will i feel a difference in power??

Unlikely. Many calim that their car appears to "pull" harder with an FMIC, but in terms of real figures I doubt it.

would you say it is worth putting one on?

It's entiely up to you at the end of the day.

You mention your car is mapped. What sort of power are you running?

If you are regularly hooning it around or planning some track days then perhaps, but I didn't feel the need until I upgraded the turbo. There was the odd occasion of heatsoak on some track das but nothing massive.

I ran my Fabia with 175BHP on the SMIC for around 100k before the turbo went pop. Heck, I even ran it for two weeks on an SMIC with a HYBRID turbo circa 200BHP, it did smoke like a chimney on full chat though :giggle:

ha sounds good.how much was the turbo you put on your car??

will i feel a difference in power??

Nope, not unless your doing sustained mental speeds. You get same power for longer, but that's all an FMIC will do, is prevent power drop off for longer due to heat soak. The SMIC is actually very efficient, tuning companies will say otherwise, as they want to sell you expensive pipework. You could fit a proper freon cooled system for 5K

Standard SMIC is garbage and cannot cope with mapped power for longer than a 2 minute spirited run, if you can't get heat soak with a map and a smic you aren't trying hard enough!!

FMIC will reduce temps and give you more power for longer....

won't increase outright power but will make the car more driveable - and possibly put out less smoke too
