CHROME BOOT TRIM

Featured Replies

Just had arrived, a chrome boot trim strip for my Fabia Greenline.... Will fit it when the rain stops and it should look most effective against the shiney black paint.

Anyone else here fitted one? The fitting seems straightforward, clean area to be fitted, match up the correct position, peel off backing of 3M stickytape and fix in place.

they even give you a tiny tool to remove the backing tape and an alcohol swab and small cloth to clean the area it fits to!

It had a slightly conflicting description, one saying it was chromed stainless steel, the other chromed ABS but it seems to be metal, so! Stainless should last ages, though and so should good ABS so not worried really.

Dunno why Skoda don't sell these as an option. Fit them on high spec, others see one and want to upgrade the looks! KER-CHING! :giggle:

They did the same thing for the mk1 Fabia.. a chrome strip for above the rear reg plate recess.. Same story, not standard on any spec and a pay for accessory. like you, i reckon these should be standard fitments on Elegance / 3 spec cars.

Look forward to seeing it on the car.

I am getting black elegance, any pics and were did you get it web address?

It was a German site. I have mentioned trying to get a small discount for members so lets see!

Skoda supply a shorter one for above the number plate recess; supply £30. Ive also seen one on ebay for £19 inc postage that goes along the trailing edge of the hatch lid. Sort of fancy one ; has any one fitted one, whats the quality like. Any opinions on which looks best.

Thanks

Not my cup of tea (I like black chrome), but from personal experience fitting sill protectors to my Fabia and a bumper protector to my Octavia; fit it when the car is as warm as possible i.e. in the sun this time of year, preferably under cover e.g. open garage door in sun.

You might even want to warm up the surface with a hair dryer once degreased.  This will also help prevent rainwater suddenly appearing from any seals (if relevant).  Maintain pressure for as long as possible perhaps propping something (cushioned) against it, and do not touch for 24 hours or as long as possible.

Good luck.

Awaits Pictures before getting Credit Card out... :)

Bought the Skoda accessory when I bought the car, easy to fit.  Still sticking on and in good condition after more than 3 years.  Agree that it should be standard on the Elegance, along with sill protectors.
