HELP - Fabia vRS intake seal perished at the elbow.

Help, the rubber ring on the elbow of the top of the intake just before it goes into the top of the engine has snapped for some reason.

it's shown as the ring in section 6, part 26

The car has dropped it's mpg to ~45mpg since this has happened, and I'm not sure if it's just coincidence.

It's lost some power too, which makes me think that the lack of seal isn't helping.

Anyone know of the part number from skoda, or EuroCarParts? or any similar part numbers for any equivalent parts that i can get on the cheap???

Hope you guys can help.

Cheers !

just spoke to skoda in warrington

the part description is apparently

57, 85mm

not sure what the "57" stands for though

I'm guessing it's 85mm in diameter which sounds about right, can't say for sure till i get home to check.

The proper part is the green viton o-ring - which is better for higher temperatures.

The one that's on my vRS is black - which is only tolerant to 70-80 C from what I can gather in the internet.

If the top hose is hitting 80/90 degrees id be worried lol

cool, i'll get the normal black one then

The parts guy said that the green one was the ring closest to the engine. (black ring was for the straight pipe connection)

The internet said that this green viton can withstand 200 C.

I just thought that since it is in contact with the top ERG valve thingy?? (which can get hot due to thermal induction from the engine???) then it might surpass 80 C ?

the higher spec green viton ring was £4.63+VAT !!!! (£5.44)

The normal black on was £1.89+VAT (£2.22)

I'll just need to double check the thickness of the rings at the top and bottom tonight before i make the purchase.

I think it's a rip-off mind for just a rubber ring, but the seal is gone, and power is down.

I had mine split in the same place as yours, noticed it as I saw some oil was blowing past the joint. Go to a plumbing supplies and find an appropriately sized pipe coupler, buy for a couple of quid, and ou now have two o-rings to seal your piping.

Did mine a while ago now and no oil has gotten past it yet. I also replaced the seal on the lower intercooler connector in this way as that was leaking slightly too, although the seal was still intact. The o-rings in the coupler I had were slightly fatter than the original seals so took some forcing in, but hopefully they are now providing a tighter seal than the original ones.
