Just thought I'd introduce myself - after much deliberation I have at long last taken the plunge and ordered an Octavia VRs today. Until recently I was running an MG ZT 190 SE which I very reluctantly sold and was in desperate need of a pick me up and adrenalin rush once again! From all the reviews I have read the VRs should do that no problem - here's hoping! In the meantime I just need to keep saving hard and watch the calendar to my delivery date (realistically I am not expecting to take delivery until January) - hopefully the wait is well worth it!

I have had quite an interesting research period in that I have been trying to get 'deals' out of my local Scottish retailers - this has for the most part proved totally fruitless with some not even bothering to respond - I thought there was a recession on? In the end, I have gone via www.CarFile.net and must say I have been most impressed with their service and attention to detail. I was somewhat sceptical about using an (internet) broker but was reassured by their longstanding association with WhatCar and the positive feedback I have read about them - again, here's hoping I don't end up disappointed!

My only reservation about my purchase is the fact that I couldn't bring myself to part with £1000+ for the Columbus SatNav but from what I can gather these can be bought more cheaply and retro-fitted - I need to do some more research on that one! The last couple of cars I have owned have had factory-fit SatNav and I have always found these to be invaluable particularly when touring France. If needs be I can always pick up a TomTom or Garmin!

I have been supplied a build date for my car...week beginning 20th December! Hopefully the Skoda workforce aren't too much into the Christmas spirit that week!

Looks like I won't be taking delivery until sometime in January at the earliest. :'(

Some friendly advice form another waiting owner, check regularly with your dealer & check the build week allocated, as you will find many post here about build dates moving, Mine has moved out 3 times.

btw - You didnt say whether you had test driven before paring with a deposit?
