Clay bar

Hi Folks

Hope this is not a stupid question .

How often can you use the same clay bar.

I don't think its a stupid question as I too would like to know others opinions on this. I suppose it really depends on how much contamination gets lifted each time? If its just a couple of tar spots then should be ok for a while. I bought a bar of the Bilt Hamber clay that uses water as a lube (cos i'm tight) and i cut it into 6 pieces, I threw one away the other day as it wasn't lifting as well as a new piece.

Had to re-read the thread title there for a minute!!! :giggle:

You cant reuse a piece of bar if its dirty, pull off small sections, once you can't refold it for a clean side throw it.

I think you can keep folding it into itself until it looks dirty / tainted, then you throw it away. Generally they last a long time, although I have taken one from new to "throw the hell away" on just one maltreated motor.....

As stated, always cut your clay bar into smaller sections as you don't need a lot at one go, work the clay until if get's dirty, then fold and re-work that section, keep doing this until the clay looses it's bite and also looks grubby.

It's also worth keeping clay that is slightly dirty for use on wheels as the clay will more than likely get ruined but can offer some removal of tougher contaminents beating wheel cleaner, tar remover's and iron filling removers...........
