Hi folks, new to this site, I had my Octaviaa VRS mk1 notified off road for four months during the summer months. Today I taxed the beast and the gear stick is extremly stiff in neutral with no real spring in it. This makes changing gear difficult, especially from 2nd to 3rd and from 5th to 4th. I have sprayed wd40 under the gear stick and also onto the pulleys in the engine. Does anyone have any idea what this problem is aand how to fix it, I'm no mechanic so is it likely to be a main dealer repair and is it an expensive repair. Cheers folks

Have a look on top of the gearbox and see if the linkages are clear. It could be something has got into the cables.
