Octy Scout 2010 Wing Mirror dismantling

Featured Replies

Thanks to some blind *************************** who swerved to miss a puddle & clipped my wing mirror I have a damaged mirror.

All the leccy bits work perfectly, the Glass & Painted piece are unmarked but the small clear plastic strip with the indicator etc in is smashed (indicator still works) & the puddle light has packed up.

can anyone enlighten me as to how to get it apart, the lens bit is only £17 & Im hoping the puddle light is a bulb thats died following the impact.

If its fiddly I will get the dealer to do it rather than risk breaking clips that will cost me more

Any thoughts appreciated

If they are the same as the old one, the top painted cover comes off, then the plastic lense has a wire and a couple of screws holding it in.

IIRC the part is about the £30 region for the older pre FL models.

To get access to the pastic and mirror cover you must take out the mirror first

Thanks

To get the mirror out initially is it a case of simply easing it out, just pop a smooth object behind it & ease it away ??

With the proviso that I’m assuming the mirror housing is the same as 04-09 models, it’s quite an easy job.

1. With the eclectic control, tilt mirror down as far as it goes.

2. ‘peel’ outer cover off from the bottom. It does need a bit of forcing but the casing seems to flex ok

3. Mirror is held on with 3-4 friction clips which come off easily.

4. Two obvious connections to be removed for heating element

After that you can get to everything
