Turbo failure

Featured Replies

This is my first post to the group as I have just suffered a major failure on my VRS. On New Year's Day under relatively gentle throttle there was a pop and loss of power which turns out to be turbo failure. Luckily I am still in warranty as my Skoda dealer reckons the job would have cost

Have you had it from new or is it second hand?

If its from second hand their maybe some history to your car. Like its been remapped but then put back to standard.

I know of at least 3 that have had turbo failure, IIRC they were all down to blocked oil supply lines

Apart from the end result....is there any way of telling that you've got blocked oil lines for the turbo?

Listen for rattles (like startup, only not at startup!) when running.

IMO, do an engine flush on every oil change.. but then I'm one of the ones on my second turbo.

driving round without holes in the sump can reduce the amount of time spent off road due to turbo faliure as well......

Thanks for the responses. I have had the car from new it's done 37,000 miles and been serviced as scheduled by Skoda dealers and has had no mods done to the engine.

Guess I'm just unlucky.

It should be back on the road tomorrow

Thanks again

are you on variable servicing by any chance?

the oil's of to are very good ,especialy if its done by main agaents,so blocked oil pipes wont be the problem,as you said just unlucky!!

Did one during the week, compressor blade cracked in the inlet side of the turbo spitting a few bits of metal about.

Can say from first hand experience, you are wrong.
