A long story.....

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I hope your Furby's are well as mine is not :'(

About 4 weeks ago now I took mine into the garage for a diagnosis on a PAS problem. :wonder:

They replaced the battery & said all is fine, So I took it home and the problem persisted ( Lights on the dash, PAS, ABS, Handbrake & steering going very heavy). So after a few hairy moments I took It back again.

They had it for about a week, then I call & ask how's my car & I'm told "We jus tightened a few nuts & bolts & it appears to be working now" Ok I said, feeling a little sceptical now. I took the car away again & the problem was still there!!!!

So back It went for well over a week & on Tuesday was told that the PAS pump had been replaced & it was fine now, Hmmmm.... :wonder:

I go to pick it up & drop off their POS 1.9SDI in faded Canary Yellow, Get in the car drive out of the Garage turn left changed into second accelerated and "POP" goes the engine, loss of Power steering, Engine etc. I managed to pull it half into a space then walked back to the garage (20meters away) They try starting it again & black smoke now comes out of the back of the engine near the turbo & the engine won't turn over, Back it goes & Out come's the the Canary again....

So I'm sitting here now wondering WTF is up with my car :dull:

I noticed they had gone through half a tank of Bp ultimate, So had they been ragging it around after hours?

Do you have to remove any part of the induction system to replace the PAS pump? perhaps it inhaled a nut?

The warranty runs out on the 1st Nov, So I am concerned that the garage is timewasting....

Any advice on this would be great as I really want my car back :(

Thanks in advance! :)

Uhoh! That sounds fatal!

Popped turbo :o

And they tried to restart it?

They sound like clowns mate!

Is it a skoda garage or an independant?

Bad news - I have no confidence in your (unnamed) dealership.

Good news - Since the fault arose within the warranty period, they have to fix it under warranty (and any other damage they've done during "fixing" it free of charge as well).

Advice on latest fault - It might be a blown turbo, but I'd reckon it's more likely one of the compressor - intercooler - plenum chamber pipe joints popped, which is a 10 to 15 minute job to fix, and happens to every mechanic occasionally.

When i had a protracted problem that my Dealership was struggling with, I gave the Service Dept 3 or 4 attempts to get it fixed, then started a thread on here & got loads of advice, THEN e-mailed the Managing Director of the Dealership, giving him the full sob story about how i'm now not a 'Happy Driver' & included a link to the Topic I'd started. Had a very positive response from the MD & the car was fixed within a week after almost 3 years of being told they couldn't find any problems

Good luck

John

I would't turn over jus got black smoke coming from the turbo :(

They are clowns HAHA . I took it to another skoda dealer in the area & they broke it too! (service)

It was a Skoda main dealer when I bought it, But now Its no longer a main Skoda dealer, therein lies another problem me thinks :dull:

When the warranty has expired it will be going here.

Should it have remained unamed? I'm not really happy with their service.

Neither do I. gonna call them in a bit tho, maybe I can get a cheap PD150 & sneak it in somehow?

Hopefully is a quick fix as I need the car for travel next week or I will be putting 100miles a day on the Canary!

Thanks Guys :)
