Saab FMIC for Oct vRS

Featured Replies

I have been offered an FMIC off a Saab Viggen as the owner is getting an Abbott Racing highflow type. Its a full width type and has a flow of 80.7cfm according to Saab. Anyone have any experience of fitting FMICs like to comment on whether its worth trying on a vRS and if so if it will give worthwhile gains in less lag, better reponse and hot weather boost?

I would have to get the hoses and a cross pipe made up and mount it but seeing as he is a mechanic I'm sure he could help.

Saab reckon their Abbott upgraded one will give 10 deg C temp drop and 12 bhp more so based on the Octavia standard side mount unit being so tiny the standard Viggen type should give an improvement.

If the Jabba FMIC is going to be a better bet what are the results to date with this?

What, you mean one of these ?

Ooooo...wonder what the afterburners would do for an Octy performance? ;)

I wonder if an FMIC for a Saab woudl work properly for an Octy....I mean it's not exactly desgined for the 1.8T engine e.g. flow, pipework, inlet and outlet etc.

Doesn't seem to drop the temp by much....not sure of the exact figures but for some reason I have these in my mind....could be due to the flu medication mind you but....70deg inlet temp before 40deg inlet temp after.

Also power gains wise...this is also difficult to imagine...FMIC on a remapped car may not give better outright figures but I guess would give the same figures for more of the rev range. Remapping,I assume would give better figures still.

PM ChrisR he may remember the exact figures as it was all tested on his Octy.
