VRS oil change - how much oil?

Featured Replies

Hi peeps, sorry if its a repost, just to save ppl moaning I have been searching for quite some time but havent come up trumps.

As the title says, Octy VRS oil and filter change, plus what type of oil to use as I havent had a chance to get my grubby mits on a Haynes manual.

Much appreciated, Alan

4.4 litres :)

10w40 will suffice for the 1.8T on regular servicing, but 5w40 or even 5w30 longlife is also grand.

Pretty flexible really.

Thank you very much! Most helpful! :)

I use 5/30 fully synthetic in mine and change it every 9-10k miles.

Bear in mind! National tyres do a full change with filter with Edge 5w30 (probably one of the best oils) for £30. The oil alone will cost you that usually.

I’ve just bought some Mobile 1 0w40 fully synthetic for mine.

Will this will be ok?

Personally I'd say it's a little on the thin side. If you use it just keep an eye on the level

Been using this for a few years and the car uses none between services.

bloody hell that's a brilliant price to pay! As you say, the oil is usually more than that alone

I purchased the Oil Skoda use for the fixed servicing these days.

Quantum Platinum 5W-40 Engine Oil

Part Number: ZGB115QLB00511 (for 5 litres)

Meets VW Spec 502.00, 505.00, 505.01

I bought 6 litres (5+1) from DM Keith Skoda and it cost me £23.74

There was still a small amount left over from the 5 litre container.

Personally I'd say it's a little on the thin side. If you use it just keep an eye on the level

Quick off topic question for you Tech1e, was it your car on Saturday, that the rollers on a rolling road decided they didn't like, so they burnt a hole in your belly pan?

lol, no not me mate.
