Skoda badges

Featured Replies

The car I've bought has a blue not green skoda badge on the boot, is it an option to change it when new or has someone painted it?

No but I'd like to order up some of them, it's just the bird thing or whatever it's meant to be looks light blue.

I like the vrs ones :)

So does mine. Means it's old.

They're faded. Mine went like it. Renewed the both.

The chrome Skoda badges front and rear have a clear plasic laminate over

the chrome, I guess to preserve the shiny metallic surface which is actually

thin, embossed and painted alloy stuck onto a black plastic roundel.

Particularly on the front, this clear laminate can get stonechipped allowing water to

get in there and gradually as it gets behind the plastic it causes the alloy logo to

oxidise and bubble which in turn lifts the plastic away a bit more.

It will only get worse, I replaced both the badges on the other halves

car with new ones and fitted all plastic black skoda engine cover badges on mine.

On both cars the rear badges had started to deteriorate on the outer edges.

The front one on Mrs Grrs car had a water bubble in it....

I only changed my front one because I had my grille carbon wrapped.

I couldn't put the old badge back on as it was damaged slightly upon removal ;)

I've got this issue on front and rear badges. Presume they are attached with double-sided adhesive?

They are but in addition to that the front on has two pegs

which are somehow melted flat on the rear of the grille too.

With careful use of a stanley blade or similar you should trim these

off before attempting removal. .

I personally pushed the front badge off from the rear through one of the two peg

holes using a screwdriver until it had lifted enough to get my fingers underneath

it so I could remove it from the front. .

The foam adhesive tape holding the badge on can be pretty strong so support

the chrome surround with your hand as you dont want to damage the flimsy

plastic fixings which hold the chrome surround bit in position.

On the rear I used an old credit type card to get the edges to lift, gentle warming

with a hairdryer will help a bit. If you use a screwdriver to lift it you may damage the paint.

The plastic posts on the rear of the rear badge won't be

melted over so don't worry about that.
