How many miles on your front tyres

Featured Replies

8500 on my VRS and they are almost out and need replacing. Will get them done at first service. Dunlop on at the moment, wont be buying them again as they are crap, going to go for Falken next time and see if they last any longer.

21k on the front but just replaced them last weekend with Conti's - rears are originals

I've just replaced the original Conti 2 on the front at 14.5k. There approx 3 mm left in the middle, a bit more towards the outside. Trying Conti 3 as they won the recent Autoexpress test. This is on FL Octavia vRS 170 CR TDi with DSG.

My Dunlop CrapXX are 80% worn in 6500 miles!!!

This is totally crap!!!!

Good job I'm putting my winters on in November!!

Veredsteins next!!

mine are 50% worn on mine and only done 6k,i wont be putting these on when a new set is required

18.5k on original dunlops on front , replaced with vreds,,rears on 27k and quite a bit left.

Changed the oil&filter today, while that was draining I checked the tyres, covered 10k on my front Conti's, they dont even look half worn which is good news.

How many miles did you get from your fronts? (&what brand of tyre)...........

On my previous Octy (Tdi) estate I got 29,000 on the fronts (original Bridgestones) and the rears were still going strong at 38,000 when I px'd it 3 weeks ago. Fortunately only had to buy one replacement as the spare was still new. I thought this was good, bearing in mind I used it for towing for a couple of thousand miles. In fact, it's just about the cheapest car to run I have ever owned - had only 1 (variable) service, with the next one due in 400 miles when I swapped it - and the service it had was on a 50% reduction offer I happened to see and print off when looking through the dealer's website just after I bought it. The offer was only advertised for about a month, so I was lucky to see it. The service manager's face was a picture when I presented it at payment many months later!

Wow 20k

Im running a mondeo 140hp on country roads 235/45/17, here are the results:

Potenza 14k

Pirelli p-zero rosso 13k

Toyo T1r 8K

Now trying Conti SC3.

Cant wait to get my CR VRS soon!!

I can only imagine you must be enjoying those country roads a lot

My PD140 did between 25 and 30k on a set of fronts and about 45k on the rears.

I feel such a hooligan after reading all these high mileage tyres!

got 15k out of my front dunlops before i needed to change them, but i have been doing 140+ back and forth along the A2 in Germany, so i wasn't surprised.

My baby had Dunlop Sportmxx all round from new. Just had the first service at 13,000 and all 4 looked ropey on the outside edges. All 4 were replaced to the sound of 650 notes!! Bloody unreal!

VRS CR 13 K fronts worn out Conti's

Just got rid of my Dunlops on the front after 12,500 - worn and sidewall failures. Now running Falken 452.

Interesting to hear you've experienced sidewall failures on the Dunlops too. I've just swapped my fronts after one tyre developing a bulge at 18k.

I could probably have got another 2-3k out of them but glad of the excuse to get rid. Now running Vreds... a huge difference in comfort and handling!
