Recirculation flap motor

Featured Replies

Hello All

Has anybody managed to change the motor which controls the climatronic recirculation flap with the dash/heater in situ?

I have a new motor as mine is dead, but after an hour of trying (half of that was taken up trying to find the thing!!!) I have come to the conclusion that it's not possible?

I can just see the lower securing screw but didn't bother to try removing it as it would appear that the upper screw is not going to be accessible and even if it is, I don't think there is enough clearance to disengage the motor from the flap mechanism.

If I'm right, then I'm a little p155ed off that Skoda/VW didn't bother to either make the motors more reliable, or design the system in such a way as to allow renewal without taking the dash out! I'm not keen to go down the route of dash removal, partly because of the cost but also the risk of creaks and rattles afterwards.

Help!

Cheers,

I have the same problem with my superb, the AC does not working because of it, and the problem is where to buy it online and the workshop on how to install it, does someone managed to install it?

I have this problem and have consulted my Audi workshop in Germany. Known problem, which takes the workshop 3 days to fix as they have to completely disassemble the dash interior and front to get to the motor. (At least that is what they told me and i believe them). Costs are high because of the man hours it takes to fix. The parts are not that expensive, excuse me for not remembering what he said, but i dont.

I had this on my old Octy and on that it was a dash out job. Luckily it was fixed under warranty as it was a £280 bill for a £70 part :o

Nice one VAG

Cheers,

might not help but if its open why not just unplug the motor? When my climate was playing up an auto electrician I used manually opened it and everything else works fine!! Obviously the car will steam up all the time if its on recirculate. Dont suppose your anywhere near teesside as Ayton Auto Electrics in Middlesbrough seemed pretty good with them!!

Thanks, Tom

This is what I did in the end and it solved the steaming up problem, so I'm happy now!

I am actually from the north east and spend a lot of time up there, so will consider Ayton Auto Electrics if I need them in the future :)
